There are only two possibilities, here. Either Donald Trump is utterly stupid or he’s aggressively making fun of his supporters by selling them on a bald-faced lie. There’s really no other way to look at his latest claim that the antisemitic Tweet he deleted was not what it really is.
Here’s his excuse…
Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff's Star, or plain star!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 4, 2016
Let’s look at the facts.
- Is he too stupid to realize that a meme originally posted by white supremacists might be more inclined to be antisemitic rather than pro-sheriffs?
- Perceptions being what they are, he could have easily rebutted complaints about it being antisemitic by pointing to political correctness and defending the post as unfortunately offensive to those who see things through PC glasses. Instead, he deleted it.
- It was pulled off a racist feed. That’s an alarm bell if ever there was one.
- He hasn’t had the cleanest record when it comes not being racist. Sadly, he got a bump when he was slow to disavow David Duke’s endorsement.
Twitter is responding to his excuse:

Here’s the truly sad part. His supporters, many of whom are blinded by their adoration and/or trapped in a political variation of Stockholm Syndrome, are trying to promote his excuse as reality. Folks, that’s not a sheriff’s star. Considering the source, there’s a 99% chance that it’s a Star of David. Trump’s okay with this. Most of his supporters are in denial or hoping that this doesn’t represent the type of person their chosen political messiah really is. Others are embracing it.
Donald Trump isn’t just attempting to take down the Republican party. He’s actively participating in the moral degradation of America. In the ultimate form of psychological projection, he’s hoping to pin his own shortcomings on the country by bringing Americans down to his level.
