Priebus out: Trump names John Kelly as Chief of Staff

Friday afternoon, President Trump terminated Reince Priebus as chief of staff, and brought in Gen. John Kelly, who had been serving as Secretary of Homeland Security.

Kelly, a Marine, should be a solid pick. Hopefully he won’t put up with any shenanigans, or insults from twerps in the communications shop.

Troubles between Trump and Priebus have been simmering and documented for months. The break culminated in Trump’s hiring of Anthony Scaramucci as Director of Communications, reporting directly to the president.

Just after Priebus departed Air Force One, Trump tweeted his decision.

Trump thanked Priebus for “his service and dedication to our country.”

A helluva way to get fired, on a Friday afternoon, straight off the presidential jet. I hope he didn’t find out through Twitter. But it has to be a huge relief for Priebus to be out. If anyone is more responsible for Trump’s nomination at the GOP candidate, I don’t know who it is.

That’s gratitude for you. You get called names, cussed out, then tossed onto the tarmac. A helluva way to run the country.
